There’s no denying the K-pop power of influence, and sitting at the top of the chain of command is BTS, the South Korean boy band consisting of RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook, who are backed by their loyal fanbase, the BTS Army.
With a list of record breaking singles like Fake Love, Dynamite and Butter under their belt, the seven-member boy band made history as the first K-pop group to earn a top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100, and recently became the the first ever Asian act to be crowned Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards.
While their fresh tracks and meaningful lyrics have touched the hearts of many across the globe, their vibrant, fashion-forward ensembles that have also become the centre of attention. In April 2021, they were tapped by none other than Louis Vuitton as house ambassadors, and subsequently made their fashion film cameo for the maison in a myriad of never-before-seen looks styled to capture each member’s personality, proving they are sartorial icons as much as they are pop sensations.
In music as well as fashion, BTS uses its fashion prowess both on and off-stage to communicate album themes, execute performances, and display each member’s personal style. Whether opting for their favourite tailored pieces from Louis Vuitton, a colourful mix of Gucci or Versace, or a streetwear ensemble of Supreme, Chrome Hearts and Off-White, BTS proves time and time again its ability to drive trends and sell-out pieces while building its reputation as a global music and style force.
