The triumphant relaunch of Gucci’s makeup line has officially arrived with the debut of its new lipstick collection — an expansive range of 58 lipstick shades in three different finishes of Rouge à Lèvres Satin (a velvet texture with strong pigmentation), Rouge à Lèvres Voile (sheer colour payoff with a luminous finish), and Baume à Lèvres (a hydrating balm in tinted and clear finishes).
Developed under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, as well as the brand’s newly-appointed Global Makeup Artist Thomas de Kluyver, Gucci’s new lipstick range encapsulates the same retro maximalist aesthetic as its fashion, home design and perfume collections. The packaging consists of an Art Deco style gold tube for the satin finish, a kitschy floral print for the voile finish, and a vibrant eggshell blue case for the balms. The shade range is inspired by iconic old Hollywood film characters, with its star shade being 25 Goldie Red, a rich, neutral tone red that is a favourite of Alessandro Michele.
The collection campaign (art directed by Christopher Simmonds) furthers the eclectic spirit of the fashion house by featuring unconventional beauties such as punk band singer Dani Miller, and models Mae Lapres, Achok Majak and Ellia Sophia Coggins as the faces of the project, promoting self-expression that challenges current confines of beauty.
Gucci’s new lipsticks are available now for HKD$305 on Gucci Hong Kong’s web store.
