Meghan Markle and Prince Harry pose for their first photocall with their newborn son, Archie Harrison Moutbatten-Windsor, in St. George’s Hall at Windsor Castle on May 8th, 2019. Meghan is wearing a Grace Wales Bonner dress. The couple gave birth to her and Prince Harry’s firstborn child — a healthy baby boy weighing 7lbs 3 oz— on the morning of May 6, 2019 in the vicinity of their home in Frogmore Cottage. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are yet to decide on a name for their son.

In a break from royal tradition, the family did not pose for photos outside the hospital. However, Prince Harry, looking completely overjoyed, made a statement in front of the stables of Windsor Castle: “I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy this morning, a very healthy baby boy. It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever imagine.”

“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension,” the Duke of Sussex continued. “This little baby is absolutely to die for. So I’m just over the moon.”

To officially announce the arrival of the new royal baby, a notice of birth has gone on display on a ceremonial easel on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace. It is a tradition that this notice will be on display for 24 hours to the public.
