Each year, the world of film and fashion collide for a lavish event that is the Venice Film Festival, and it proves to be no different this year — even amidst a pandemic that shows no sign of stopping. In it’s 78th year, the Festival remains an opportunity for A-list celebrities and Hollywood VIPs to turn up dressed to the nines, delivering us with an endless supply of sartorial celebrity content until the next red carpet event rolls around.
From the premieres of Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya’s Dune and Anya-Taylor Joy’s Last Night In Soho, to Kristen Stewart’s Spencer, here are the most iconic looks we’ve seen so far.
Day 4
Day 4 saw Anya Taylor Joy’s arrival at the photo call of Last Night in Soho, where she was photographed in a blush Rodarte floral pajama set. The actress dolled up on the red carpet by showing up in a pink Dior Haute Couture that screamed 60s barbie, accessorised with jewellery from Tiffany & Co.
Scenes From a Marriage heroine Jessica Chatain attended the film’s photo call in a white two piece fresh from the Giambattista Valli Resort 2022 collection, and stunned the red carpet in a fiery red gown embellished with from Atelier Versace, completed with a necklace from the Chopard Haute Joaillerie Collection.
Donning Giorgio Armani, both Money Heist’s Esther Acebo and Jaime Lorente made a surprise appearance at the screening of Official Competition, which stars Antonio Banderas, Penélope Cruz and Oscar Martínez.

Day 3
31-year-old actress Dakota Johnson graced the premiere of The Lost Daughter in a Gucci evening dress, and was accompanied by the dress’ designer Alessandro Michele, who wore a crimson velvet suit. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s first ever self-written and self-produced film, The Lost Daughter received a four-minute standing ovation at its premiere. Gyllenhaal’s younger brother Jake Gyllenhaal showed his support and appeared alongside his sister wearing a Valentino white suit, the colour echoing that of the white puffy sleeves of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Prada evening gown.
On the red carpet of Dune, Zendaya showed up in a wet look wearing a nude leather Balmain gown, accessorised with an emerald serpentine necklace from Bulgari. On the other hand, fellow star Timothée Chalamet rocked a Haider Ackermann black sequin ensemble, topped with a pair of sunglasses from Prada. Chang Chen, the Asian face of the sci-fi film, looked dapper in his Tom Ford velvet suit jacket and Kingsman pants in collaboration with Mr Porter. He plays Dr. Wellington Yueh, a physician who helps Paul (Chalamet) in adapting to the environment of his new home, Arrakis.
After arriving in Venice suited in a Chanel tweed outfit, Kristen Stewart, whose performance as Princess Diana in the late royal’s biopic Spencer has been highly praised, stepped onto the red carpet in a refreshing mint set from Chanel’s Autumn 2021 collection adorned with lace.

Day 2 sees one of the most anticipated moments of this year’s festival: film’s favourite power couple Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter arriving together on the red carpet of The Power of The Dog, director Jane Campion’s first film in over a decade.

Day 1
Serena Rossi, the host of the 78th Venice Film Festival, alongside Parallel Mothers’ actresses among the first to walk the red carpet wearing Giorgio Armani Privé and Cartier. Penélope Cruz, who stars as heroine in the film, stepped onto the red carpet in full elegance wearing haute couture from Chanel’s A/W2021 collection, which comes as no surprise as the actress is a face of the brand.
Many faces of Armani Beauty were also spotted on the first day. Greta Ferro, the Italian supermodel known for her acclaimed role in fashion TV drama Made In Italy, Hungarian model Barbara Palvin, Portuguese model Sara Sampaio, African American model Madisin Rian, actress Sarah Gadon and Isabelle Huppert all graced the red carpet in Giorgio Armani couture.
Other notable appearances include 76-year-old British film veteran Dame Helen Mirren, Oscar winning Chinese filmmaker Chloé Zhao, and various international jury members of the festival.
