Hats were ubiquitous in the Autumn/Winter 2019 collections, appearing in all shapes and styles to declare that no head shall be left bare this autumn. Koché went full-feathered fantasy with wide-brimmed creations while Tom Ford put the fur into fedoras to keep you warm in the colder weather. At Dior and Nina Ricci, the bucket hat saga continued with a more sophisticated chapter, taking on diverse prints and bonnet-like forms on their respective runways. Other old-school styles returned with a twist, as newsboy caps turned punk at Balmain and Simone Rocha gave berets the sparkly, embroidered treatment.
Though no single style reigned supreme, the message was clear: statement hats are most definitely having a moment. And they’re the best way to add a dash of personality to any outfit as we prepare for coat-covered seasons ahead. With so many choices and variations out there, here are 13 of the best hats for fall.
