“Long live independent film,” Anora director Sean Baker proclaimed as he accepted the award for Best Picture. The 2025 Oscars was a night of triumph for the Anora team, which won five of its six nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Mikey Madison, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing. Adrien Brody’s performance in The Brutalist brought him another Best Actor win, 22 years after making history as the youngest actor to win in this category. Blackpink’s Lisa became the first K-pop idol to perform on the Academy stage, dedicating a  tribute to James Bond alongside “New Woman” singers Doja Cat and Raye.

Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo pulled no stops for their red carpet and performance numbers. Grande stepped out in a custom Schiaparelli gown with a satin bodice and sculptural peplum, channeling Glinda with its soft pink hues. Meanwhile, Erivo made an emerald green statement in custom Louis Vuitton, complemented by embellished nails that are signature to any Cynthia Erivo look. Later in the night, the pair joined onstage to deliver some Ozian music magic with equally ethereal dresses to match—Grande in custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture and Erivo in Vivienne Westwood florals.

Chanel ambassador Lupita Nyong’o wore a custom Chanel number inspired by the brand’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1991 collection. The pleated ivory charmeuse dress took 660 hours of work and 22,410 embroidery elements, glimmering with silver crystal beads and embellished with pearls.

Last but not least, Andrew Garfield. After the 2025 Golden Globes, Mr. Garfield has zeroed in on Gucci loose shirts and reading glasses, and it’s a wholehearted, resounding ‘yes’ from us.
