Prada: Wednesday Addams & Frankenstein
Miuccia Prada played matchmaker of Halloween fantasy on the Prada AW19 runway by uniting Wednesday Addams with Frankenstein. Panels of moody black lace were worn with severe, middle-parted braids and austere white collars, combined with graphics of our favourite lovelorn monster.

Alexander McQueen: Dracula
The vampy grandeur on Alexander McQueen’s AW19 runway highlighted the most iconic vampire of them all: Count Dracula. Sharp suiting, dramatic cape-like lengths, baroque fabrication and a moody black and red palette present a dark and stormy aura befitting Hallow’s Eve and beyond.

Gucci: Silence of the Lambs
Always the provocateur with his outlandish designs, Alessandro Michele’s Gucci AW19 show reminded us of The Silence of the Lambs with its Hannibal Lector face masks (with a touch of Jason Vorhees horror) and Clarice’s sober beige suiting. To make the reference even more obvious: a crochet knit top with a little lamb graphic.

Fendi: Margot Tenenbaum
Wes Anderson’s Margot Tenenbaum from The Royal Tenenbaums has become a Halloween Hall-of-Famer for her iconic rebel prep look. The fictional character’s brown fur coat emerged on Fendi’s AW19 runway alongside well-groomed silhouettes reminiscent of the Tenenbaums’ sporty background. Complete the look with a baby blue striped polo dress, a Birkin Bag, a beret, and smudged eyeliner.

Marni: Pulp Fiction‘s Mia Wallace
In the canon of fictional bad girls, Mia Wallace from Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 Pulp Fiction remains a cult-favourite for her mysterious, minimalist allure. While you can easily re-create her look with a white button-down, black trousers, red lipstick and a black fringed bob, look to Marni for a fashion redux that gives the mafia boss a fashion redux.

Paco Rabanne: Great Gatsby Redux
You can never go wrong with a 1920s flapper look. Paco Rabanne’s AW19 collection was a full indulgence of Jazz Age glitz and glamour with flirty cocktail dresses, opulent prints, crystal-embellished details, and shimmering metallics, silks, and lamés. Complete the outfit with ornate chandelier earrings and kitten heels.

Bottega Veneta: Hunger Games
Would Katniss Everdeen be a new Bottega girl? Daniel Lee’s debut AW19 Bottega Veneta collection was a defiant reinterpretation of the house’s renowned leather craftsmanship. The armour-like leather outfits were mixed with biker codes for a Hunger Games-worthy outfit.

Moschino: Soap Opera Divas
It’s always full-on drama at Moschino and for AW19, Jeremy Scott changed the channel to Soap Opera extravaganza. Diva bouffants were worn with melodramatic outfits caricaturing the rich and famous: little black dresses with gold dollar signs, faux fox fur coats with miniskirts, and dollar-print ensembles complete with matching shoes and bag.

Anna Sui: Thing 1 & Thing 2
We’ll admit that half of the outfit is in the spiky, colourful hair, but Anna Sui’s AW19 collection reminded us of Dr. Suess’ Thing 1 and Thing 2 with its animated colours and buoyant silhouettes. Youthful A-line dresses were played up with feather trims and heirloom embroideries, while matching brocade suits gave a lavish upgrade on the pyjama look.

GCDS: Prom Night
’80s prom queens, girls-next-door, and goth kids got a spooky twist on the GCDS AW19 runway. Girlish minidresses with puff sleeves, sashes and long gloves were seen with blood-splatter graphics and crystal spider accessories for a high-school-prom-gone-wrong redux.
