ARTnews is coming to Asia! Based in Hong Kong, the first digital edition of ARTnews Asia will encompass web, mobile, social media, and livestream events, reaching a diverse audience of approximately 900 million people across Southeast Asia, including Macau and South Korea.

Since 1902, ARTnews has been a highly regarded source for news in the global art world and market. As a digital-first publication, it provides real-time updates through its website and newsletters. The only print edition released annually is the Top 200 Collectors issue, which has served since 1990 as the authoritative guide to the most influential and active art collectors worldwide.

In collaboration with Luxetech Ventures, a global venture builder focused on the luxury and art markets, ARTnews Asia seeks to illuminate the contemporary art scenes of cities such as Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur. Luke Bahrenburg, President of Luxury Sales at Penske Media Corporation, expressed enthusiasm for this expansion: “We look forward to shining a light on this region’s contributions to the art world.”

Over the past three years, Asia has emerged as the largest art market globally, surpassing both American and European markets in volume. Notably, the average auction price for artwork in Hong Kong is reported to be 7-8 times higher than in London or New York. This trend underscores a growing interest among affluent Asians in local art. Vladimir Lyaporov, Managing Partner of Luxetech Ventures, emphasised the potential of art to become a driving force in private investing “as millions of people are getting involved thanks to technology.” He continues, “Art, once considered a niche market for the super-rich, is appealing to wider audiences, and these changes create strong demand for well-curated information on talents and insightful events.”

ARTnews Asia will cater to art collectors, professionals, and enthusiasts by providing high-quality content and engaging livestream events. The platform is set to debut in March 2025, coinciding with ArtBasel and Hong Kong Art Week. Its editorial team will be announced later this year.
