The Chairman has become the first ever Chinese restaurant to top the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, taking the place from Singapore’s Odette, which had previously held the title for two consecutive years. Meanwhile, 10 other Hong Kong restaurants were featured, while other notable cities included Singapore, taking 8 spots and Tokyo, which took 7.

With input from over 300 leading figures in the culinary industry, the prestigious Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list is voted and ranked by a series of journalists, critics, chefs, restauranteurs and media personnel, with a 50:50 gender ratio.

Hong Kong’s Mono was a new entrant to the list, while other notable local restaurants included Ta Vie, Richard Ekkebus’ Amber, Bombana’s Otto e Mezzo Bombana, Four Seasons’ Caprice, and the recently revamped Belon.
