The Cakery
Shirley Kwok always knew she wanted to create cakes for everyone – regardless of preference or dietary restriction. “Desserts are something that should be enjoyed by everyone”, Shirley says. This festive season, the creative entrepreneur crafted a holiday-ready Christmas cake with red and white striped fondant, voluminous fir boughs, intricate Christmas gift boxes and a Christmas tree to top it all off. Each individual cake is carefully handmade and created bespoke for each customer. “The flavour can be custom made to suit any customer’s needs, and I hope our cake can be enjoyed while creating experiences to be reminisced for years to come.”
Bow Artisan Cakery
Why did Meibo So and Nicole Ren decide to establish Bow Artisan Cakery? “We love to see the joy and happiness that delicious cakes bring to people. Then there’s the fact that we love food, we love baking, and we love art.” For Christmas, the pair created a quaint Christmas tree-shaped cake made with Earl Grey tea and infused with a buttermilk cake base, layers of tangy passionfruit buttercream, and finished with a Swiss meringue buttercream. “When we make a cake, we don’t want to just put another cake on the market. We wanted to reinvent this idea that cake can also be beautifully designed just like an art piece, and the fun part is that the cake can become an “edible present”, one that will always be remembered in fond moments with you and your loved ones.”
Vive Cake Boutique
What better time to go all out than at Christmas? Vivien Lau of Vive Cake Boutique created a festive holiday cake to capture the magic and whimsy of the season. A twirling Christmas tree spins atop pink and red stripes and ruffled red piping. A rich chocolate cake lies within, although guests can opt for red velvet for a more festive touch. “Christmas should be all things whimsical and dreamy, like a Christmas tree twirling on a music box”, Vivien says. “The best part about eating with loved ones is really no matter what you are eating, it can still become an unforgettable experience that will always make you smile when you think about it.”
