Finding a tranquil retreat in the bustling heart of Hong Kong is a dream for many urban dwellers. Lanson Place Causeway Bay completed a transformation in March this year, revitalising this boutique hotel and reimagining it as a luxe oasis in the city. This re-design, led by renowned Parisian designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, combines French sophistication with unparalleled comforts of home.
Pierre-Yves Rochon approached this transformation with a clear vision: “Our renovation respects the DNA of this institution, which is a private, personal hotel, a warm place, a sanctuary within the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.” His design cleverly integrates elements inspired by nature, the southern coast of France, and Art Deco. A soft colour palette intertwines with diverse textures to create a timeless, warm space reminiscent of a home. Upon entering Lanson Place Causeway Bay, guests are greeted by refined and intimate elegance – as if they were entering a private mansion.
Every new beginning comes with challenges, and the transformation process was no exception. From room styles to the design of public spaces, the team overcame numerous hurdles. In redesigning the guest rooms, it was essential to delineate areas for work, relaxation, and sleep, all the while maintaining a sense of spaciousness. Each space in the public areas has been conceptualised as distinct rooms in a home, creating a journey of exploration for guests. Rochon and his team’s deep love for Hong Kong has also inspired a fresh and inviting new look for Lanson Place Causeway Bay.
Upon arriving Salon Lanson on the first floor, guests will be greeted by natural light pouring through the windows, illuminating tasteful artwork and decorative pieces. This space is more than just a restaurant — it serves as an extension of the living space. The furniture, designed in ivory white, pastel greens, and light oak tones, artfully combines understated luxury with exceptional craftsmanship. From breakfast and lunch to evening cocktails and dinner, guests enjoy a private dining experience as if in the comfort of their own home.
The hotel also caters to guests’ fitness needs, boasting a gym equipped with diverse equipment and bathed in natural light. The addition of lush greenery and light wooden decor creates a soothing atmosphere, allowing guests to pause and focus on their wellness amidst the hustle and bustle of city life.
The guest room and suite designs reflect an unwavering attention to detail, with every element carefully considered. Inspired by the Mediterranean, the rooms and suites are painted in pastel blue, yellow, and green tones. The artwork and furnishings complement the colour scheme, creating a tranquil escape.
Six penthouses designed for long-stay guests debuted in August, offering ample space and an elegant sanctuary where they can live, work and rest as they would at home. The wooden floors radiate warmth, adding a natural touch to the space. From the decor and furnishings to the materials chosen, every thoughtful detail comes together to form a space where guests can truly unwind and relax.
