Love was in the air as Armand “Mondo” Duplantis ran to kiss his girlfriend, Swedish model Desiré Inglander, right after he landed a new world record at the Paris Olympics. The 24-year-old pole vaulter broke his own record with a staggering 6.25-metre height whilst his girlfriend watched, filming her own reaction to the feat.

Good things certainly came in pairs when Chinese badminton player Huang Yaqiong won gold in the badminton mixed doubles – and a proposal from her boyfriend, men’s singles player Liu Yuchen. He put a Darry diamond ring, which can only be bought once in a lifetime, on her finger, making adoring fans go wild.

Eighteen-year-old Chinese gymnast Zhou Yaqin didn’t just win silver in the women’s beam event – she won the hearts of Olympic onlookers when she copied the Italian winners, who bit their medals for the camera. Although she later revealed that she didn’t actually bite the medal but just held it to her mouth, fans gushed at how wholesome the moment was.

The women’s badminton singles was unfortunately cut short when Spain’s Carolina Marin had to withdraw after a knee injury, losing her chance at a medal. As a display of respect, her opponent, China’s He Bingjiao, held up a pin adorned with the Spanish flag at the podium as she received her silver medal. Marin thanked the Chinese badminton player via social media, with fans praising her sportsmanship and Olympic spirit.

The British skateboarding veteran has been at it since 1994, and he’s won the respect of board aficionados worldwide as the oldest skateboarder in the Olympics to date. Although Macdonald didn’t progress to the final, his legacy has been applauded by fans, with skating legend Tony Hawk giving him a standing ovation at the Games.

The Australian kayaking sisters competed against each other in the same event, with the younger Noémie progressing to the final and winning gold.
