Simone Biles’ GOAT necklace

The iconic American gymnast snagged first place at the women’s all-around, officially bringing her total gold medal count to seven after she went on to win in vault. Gold wasn’t the only thing she wore that day, but a 546-diamond encrusted goat pendant necklace, unapologetically proving her status as Greatest of All Time.

Snoop Dogg, the new face of the Olympics

From busting a move in front of a horse to wearing a shirt with the face of US volleyball player Kelly Cheng printed on it, Snoop Dogg’s done it all. As a NBC correspondent for the Paris Olympics, the rapper has made himself the main event of the Games. Whether he’s dressed in full fencing gear or swimming with Michael Phelps, Snoop always has something exciting in store for us.

Stephen Nedoroscik, a.k.a. Pommel Horse Guy

“This Ken’s job is pommel horse,” according to the Internet. Millions fell in love with American gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik—team USA’s resident pommel horse specialist— for his Clark-Kent-like looks and endearing Rubik’s Cube ritual (which he can solve in less than ten seconds). Gymnastics aside, Nedoroscik is a gamer, a cat dad, and has a girlfriend who is affectionately dubbed “Ms. Pommel Horse” – so cute!

Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec has made waves not only for his silver-medal-winning skills, but for his nonchalant aura. The 51-year-old approached the competition with only prescription glasses, in contrast to the specialised eye gear others might have used, and near-invisible earplugs. His iconic shooting stance has become a victory pose for other Olympians, such as the South African men’s relay team, Team GB and Mondo Duplantis; the pose has also found its way to football matches, such as the UEFA Europa League. Meanwhile, South Korea’s Kim Yeji appeared in superspy fashion, dressed in monochrome and striking a powerful pose as she took her shot. Fans have been comparing the two, featuring both in parody movie posters and manga-style drawings.

Norwegian swimmer Henrik Christiansen is going viral for his love of the Olympic Village’s chocolate muffins – apparently, they’re a 11/10 with gooey centres. He’s amused the Internet by taking multiple of the sweet treats from the cafeteria and hiding muffins in his bedside drawer.

Tang Qianting’s waist-snatching swimsuit

When China’s Tang Qianting appeared on television, the Internet was shocked by her swimsuit, which seemed to shrink her waistline down to a mere few inches. “She’s SNATCHED”, a viral video commented in response to the 100m breastroke silver medal winner’s optical illusion bathing suit. In reality, the two-toned bathing suit caused Tang’s sides to blend into the blue walls of the Paris La Défense Arena, the site of this year’s Olympic swimming events.

The Hong Kong runner with ‘Diu’ as his last name

Hong Kong sprinter Felix Diu Chun-hei sparked hilarity in the city when he proudly pointed to his surname as the camera panned past. While ‘diu’ is a Chinese profanity, the athlete’s name is actually pronounced with a different tone to the original, but this didn’t stop fans from expressing their appreciation for the seeming pun.
