Food is arguably the most powerful love language – incorporating all five senses as a memorable means of nourishing our body while connecting with our loved ones. This Valentine’s day, JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong offers a gastronomic getaway that merges five-star service and deluxe accommodation with refined dining. Regardless of tastes or preferences, a private in-room dining service allows guests to select between a range of different curated menus for the night, for a memorably delectable stay.
Fish Bar
Pescatarians rejoice – Fish Bar highlights an extensive array of seafood in a relaxed alfresco setting. The Seafood Fantasy sees a platter of creamy French oysters and delicately sweet king crab legs served alongside mussels and marinated pink prawn salad for a jet-fresh start to the meal. As far as mains, the butter poached lobster tail with Fillet Mignon is a tender and luxurious choice, while a rich raspberry chocolate mousse is updated with red fruit apple compote and chocolate puff pastry.
Flint
Alternatively, carnivores can chow down at Flint, the dedicated grill destination at JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong. The six-course set dinner, curated exclusively for the romantic occasion, begins with a selection of sumptuous savoury dishes, including Iberico ham and Manchego cheese and a rich seared duck foie gras with sweet, jammy figs. A noteworthy dish is the U.S. beef tenderloin, charred over the grill, while the Alaskan king crab or Patagonian toothfish with red king prawn are lighter options. End on a sweet note with a decadent chocolate raspberry fondant with raspberry sorbet and champagne jelly.
Man Ho Chinese Restaurant
Those looking to pay homage to the Lunar New Year festivities on Valentine’s Day can celebrate with refined Cantonese cuisine at Man Ho Chinese Restaurant, which has just been awarded its first Michelin star. Luxurious ingredients include a trio of lobster appetisers elevated with the likes of shrimp mousse and salted egg yolk sauce, while the pan-fried fish maw with lily bulb and almond chicken broth is a nourishing, textural delight. Meanwhile traditional double-boiled soups and braised rice with eel, maca, dried mandarin peel and red dates offer warming and healing properties, neatly delivered in the form of a decadent dish.
JW Café & The Lounge
If the thought of deciding on merely one cuisine disappoints you, JW Café and JW Lounge both offer expansive dinner buffets which meld techniques and ingredients from both the East and the West. JW Café highlights the extensive fresh seafood on offer, with snow crab leg, Boston lobster, freshly made sushi and sashimi, abalone, braised fish maw and sea cucumber. For a meal with a view, The Lounge is set with the backdrop of a panoramic cityscape, which can be enjoyed as guests chow down on ginseng chicken soup with red date and pine nut, poached rice with lobster, clam and giant grouper in lobster soup and more.
Afternoon Tea Set
Eating adventures needn’t be restricted to the likes of lunch and dinner: the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong’s signature afternoon tea set has undergone a romantic revamp, courtesy of executive pastry chef Kevin Chiu. Shades of pink and red permeate throughout the tea set, with both sweet and savoury creations on offer. Highlights include the light and creamy vanilla white chocolate mousse with yuzu cream and champagne pear compote and the chocolate shortcrust with lychee confit and rose petal strawberry cremeux. Booze up the experience with a glass of Moët champagne for an additional HK$100. The limited-edition Valentine’s afternoon tea set will be available from 8-14 February between 3:30 and 6pm.
The JW Romantic Eatcation is priced from HK$2,380 per night and includes daily buffet breakfast for 2 persons, a connecting room with views for private in-room dining and Man Ho Chinese Restaurant’s 6-course set for two, Fish Bar’s 4-course set for two or Flint’s 4-course set for two. A one-hour photography service and a bottle of Moët & Chandon Champagne with a bouquet of 33 roses and customised in-room celebration decorations are available at supplementary costs.
