The crowning jewel of the new Victoria Dockside development in East Tsim Sha Tsui is now open in the form of the Rosewood Hong Kong. Rising 65 storeys above Victoria Harbour, the ‘vertical estate’ encompasses 322 guestrooms and 91 suites, 186 serviced apartments, and eight food and beverage outlets, from the all-day dining Holt’s Cafe and Cantonese fine dining establishment Legacy House, to the DarkSide jazz bar and the whimsical Butterfly Patisserie. The Manor Club, exclusive to those staying in suites, offers a members’ club of sorts on the 40th floor; and in a first for the Rosewood group, the Hong Kong location features the first urban outpost of its Asaya wellnes centre.
The architecture was the work of Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and weaves in Art Deco references while mirroring the verticality of the cityscape. Meanwhile, the softly opulent interiors were designed by Tony Chi (responsible for designing the Rosewood London, Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou and Andaz Tokyo) who sought to create a sense of place while incorporating subtle references to the intergenerational legacy of its owners, the Cheng family of New World Development.
Despite only opening in mid-March, the Rosewood Hong Kong has already seen its fair share of headline-grabbing events, among them Vogue Hong Kong‘s launch party as well as this year’s star-studded amfAR Gala, firmly establishing it as the city’s playground for the elite.
