A 28-storey building in Sheung Wan is home to the newest, and largest, Soho House residence, with membership granting access to the group’s 24 houses across the UK, Europe, North America and Asia. In sync with the other properties are the house brasserie (here, with a locally-inspired menu of siu mei and dim sum), a luxe cinema, three floors of gym, and a top-floor pool room, where a pool and swim-up bar are surrounded by tropical plants, rattan furniture and daybeds. As of next year, Soho House Hong Kong will also feature nine floors of Soho Works (co-working space), new retail experience The Store (selling Soho Home interiors, Cowshed beauty products, and one-off brand collaborations), and an open exhibition space on the ground floor.
Located at 33 Des Voeux Road West, Soho House Hong Kong is the second house to open in Asia (following Mumbai last year) and showcases interiors inspired by Hong Kong’s rich culture. Patterns and fabrics mimic the colours of the city and schemes reference Hong Kong films and the work of directors such as Wong Kar-Wai. A permanent art collection of over 100 works has been curated by Kate Bryan, Head of Collections for Soho House and former Director of Hong Kong’s Cat Street Gallery, who’s mission was to include only artists born or based in Hong Kong, combining the more established such as Lee Kit and Tsang Kin Wah, with the emerging, such as Firenze Lai and South Ho. As well as being a space for members to relax, work and socialise with fellow Hong Kong creatives, the house will host a diverse programme of events incorporating the city’s music, film, fashion, art, design and wellness communities.
