Far from home and possibly dead to her family, she spends her recovery under the care of a handsome cabin owner— hint, hint.

2022 has been the year of period dramas and Florence Pugh; luckily for us, The Wonder brings both. A film adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s eponymous 2016 novel, The Wonder follows the story of an English nurse (Pugh) who is sent to a secluded Irish village to investigate the curious case of a young girl who is very much alive and well, but has not eaten in months. Directed by Oscar-winning director Sebastián Lelio, The Wonder makes for a haunting, suspenseful and thought-provoking watch.
