This year’s best beauty looks at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival had a penchant for easy glamour and barely-there nudes. Two simple but effective makeup looks prevailed — the first emphasising fresh skin, brushed up brows, shimmery peach lids and delicately blushed cheeks; the second channeling classic Hollywood glamour via a red lip and cat-eye combo, as best seen on Selena Gomez, Nattasha Bunprachom, and Dita Von Teese. Those more daring made statements with extra-bold feline flicks and electric blue eyeliner, as seen on Coco Rocha, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Barbara Meier.
Hair saw a wealth of elegant up-dos, ranging from taut, slicked-back manes to the sculptural knots and twists of Bella Hadid, Chloe Sevigny, Amber Heard and Isabeli Fontana. Plaits also appeared in various forms, including Margot Robbie’s dreamy flower-girl strands inspired by Sharon Tate’s 1968 Cannes hair, and Elsa Hosk’s milkmaid braid, while easy, breezy beach waves of Anja Rubik, Taylor Hill, and Marion Cotillard made a case for full-bodied hair.
