From a bold periwinkle dye job to pretty in pink neon shadow, Lady Gaga is never one to shy away from a transformative beauty risk. It should come as no surprise then, that the singer chose a larger than life eyeliner statement last night at the launch of her new makeup line, Haus Laboratories—one that recalled a certain Italian fashion icon and designer.
For the star-studded party in Santa Monica that took place in a giant hangar with 500 of her beauty friends, Gaga slipped on a long-sleeved lace ensemble, then changed into a curve-hugging black sequined frock. But all eyes were on the Oscar winner’s graphically lined, exaggerated lids—this was a makeup party, after all—which were the work of Gaga’s co-founder and expert artist, Sarah Tanno.
And just ahead of Versace’s Spring/Summer 2020 show this week in Milan, it seemed Gaga was channeling Donatella herself, with platinum waves that extended past her waist and a set of kohl-rimmed eyes. Intentional or not, the singer demanded the kind of attention that a soon-to-be successful beauty mogul definitely deserves.
