Famously Marilyn Monroe’s bedtime ensemble of choice, a new screen siren is flying the flag for Chanel’s No5: Marion Cotillard. It’s the first time the actor and icon of insouciant French chic has lent her face to a fragrance – and what a match they make.

Just like the perfume – itself an institution in the fragrance world and beyond – Cotillard is an award-winner, having scooped an Oscar and a Golden Globe over the course of a career that has seen her work with some of the industry’s most feted directors, from Christopher Nolan to Ridley Scott. Now, she will turn her talents to a new Chanel campaign, set to be unveiled later in the year.

“The perfect incarnation of French natural beauty, Marion Cotillard has an irresistible ‘je ne sais quoi’ that’s all her own,” a spokesperson for the brand said. “She is bringing her elegance to the image of the iconic No5 fragrance.” Having worn Chanel for many a red-carpet premiere – including that of the film that won her the Best Actress Oscar, La Vie en Rose – Cotillard’s new role marks the latest chapter in her Chanel story.
