The secret to the flawless, radiant skin you see adorning models’ faces backstage at the couture shows? The holy touch of Vogue’s beauty-editor-at-large, Pat McGrath, or Mother as she’s affectionately known, whose trademark is such skin. And now she’s bottled it up in a new line of foundations that launch on July 26.
They’re not just any foundations; true to their name, Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection The System, they come as part of a ‘system’. A three-step process helps you achieve the ultimate base with three different products (or steps). The first step, a hydrating Sublime Perfection Primer; the second, a Sublime Perfection Foundation which comes in 36 different shades (there is one for everyone); and finally, the Sublime Perfection Setting Powder, which imparts a blurring effect on the skin.
The star-of-the-show, of course, is the foundation, which is infused with skin barrier-strengthening ceramides and diamond core powder to smooth imperfections and impart a healthy finish, while offering medium coverage that doesn’t sit too heavily upon skin.
The face of the campaign, Damien Hurley, was shot by Steven Meisel, and embodies the sense of diversity that is such a pillar of Pat McGrath Labs as a brand: “A supermodel is born,” says McGrath of Hurley, “It’s no surprise that as the offspring of the iconic Elizabeth Hurley, Damian is a bright, young, emerging star who has an absolutely magnetic personality, energy, and an exceptional look.” Of McGrath, Hurley is similarly complimentary: “Pat is an artist and visionary, who has truly changed the face of beauty, especially for my generation.”
Meisel, who has long worked with McGrath on countless campaigns and editorial shoots, shot Hurley for the first time on the campaign: “To be captured through the lens of the incredible, legendary Steven Meisel was a truly phenomenal experience,” says Hurley. “I’ve long admired Steven’s fierce aesthetic and I’m so proud to be a part of this incredibly beautiful and disruptive campaign.”
Watch as they fly off the shelves.
