Blackpink: Light Up the Sky will follow the lives of Blackpink members Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé as they navigate their stardom and everyday identities. The first K-Pop production for Netflix, the film is directed by Caroline Suh, behind hugely popular docu-series Salt Fat Acid Heat, and follows hot on the heels of Beyoncé’s Homecoming and Taylor Swift’s Miss Americana.

“The K-pop phenomenon has been sweeping the globe and Blackpink has arguably become the most recognisable and most popular girl group in the world,” commented Adam Del Deo, Netflix’s VP of Documentary Features. Following Blackpink’s journey, from recording and training to personal interests and their iconic performance at Coachella, the documentary is set to allow a never-before-seen insight into the life and work of the band. In addition to releasing the documentary globally, Netflix has added a new feature that allows users to make the girls’ faces available as profile icons.

Beyond Netflix, Blackpink has been in the media in recent weeks with the success of their collaboration with Selena Gomez on the summer anthem Ice Cream. Both Ice Cream and How You Like That will feature on Blackpink’s debut album set to release on 2 October.
