To say that Blackpink is in our area would be an understatement — these girls have dominated our area! Since their debut in 2016, the powerhouse quartet has been busy collecting accolade after accolade to add to their shining list of achievements. From making history as the first K-pop girl group to top the Billboard 200 to becoming UN advocates, here are some of their most memorable milestones to date.
November 2018: Jennie made her solo debut with “Solo”
Jennie was the first Blackpink member to make her solo debut. Her first solo single (aptly titled “Solo”) placed first on the South Korean Gaon Digital Chart and topped the Billboard World Digital Songs chart in the United States. This track also won Jennie the Song Of The Year — November award in 2019 at the Gaon Chart Music Awards and the Best Digital Song bonsang at the Golden Disc Awards in 2020.
April 2019: Became the first female K-pop group to perform at Coachella
On the festival’s 20th anniversary, Blackpink simultaneously made their US stage debut and became the first female Korean act to perform at Coachella. They really hit’em with that ddu-du ddu-du du!
June 2020: Broke 3 Guinness World Records
The release of their global hit “How You Like That” broke three Guinness records, namely “Most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours”, “Most viewed music video on YouTube in 24 hours”, and “Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 Hours by a K-pop group” — all of which were previously held by BTS.
August 2020: Became the first female K-pop group to win an MTV VMA award

“How You Like That” also won Blackpink the Song of the Summer at the MTV VMAs, making them the first female K-pop group to win a VMA.
March 2021: Rosé made her solo debut with “On The Ground”
Rosé co-wrote “On the Ground”, reflecting on her journey from being a music-loving girl from Australia to becoming a global pop sensation. It was the highest-charting song by a Korean female soloist on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was the first song by a Korean solo artist to debut first on both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts.
September 2021: Lisa’s solo debut with “Lalisa”
A hip-hop track that takes influence from the culture of Thailand, Lisa’s home country, “Lalisa” is the lead single from her debut single album of the same name. Earlier this year, the song won the Best K-Pop award at the 2022 MTV VMAs.
September 2021: Rosé was the first K-pop artist to attend the Met Gala
Shortly after her solo debut, Rosé walked the famous Met steps with YSL’s Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello dressed in one of his signature LBDs. The highlight of her outfit was a crystalised choker adorned in lacquered four-leaf clovers for luck. Alongside CL, a rapper and former member of YG Entertainments’s pop diva group 2NE1, she became one of the first female K-pop idols to attend the most prestigious event on the fashion calendar.
September 2021: Appointed as Sustainable Goals Development Advocates by the United Nations

Following their appointment as advocates for the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26) in 2020, the members of Blackpink were appointed as advocates for the United Nation’s Sustainable Goals Development (SGD). The SGD details 17 goals addressing global issues such as poverty, world peace and environmental degradation, aiming to achieve a more sustainable future by 2023.
February 2022: Jisoo made her debut as the female lead in Disney Plus’ Snowdrop

Jisoo scored her first K-drama female lead role in Disney+’s limited series “Snowdrop”. Starring alongside DP’s Jung Hae-in, she played Youngro, a university student that finds herself tangled up in the complications of a political uprising after she hides a wounded graduate student in her dormitory.
August 2022: The biggest Youtube MV debut in 24 hours of 2022 (so far) with “Pink Venom”
They really said taste that pink venom!
August 2022: Became the first female K-pop act to perform at the MTV VMAs
Flanked by a dozen backup dancers, the quartet delivered an explosive first US awards show performance with “Pink Venom”.
September 2022: First Female K-pop Group To Rank No.1 On The Billboard 200
Blackpink’s sophomore full-length album “Born Pink” ranked first on the latest Billboard 200, making them the first female K-pop group to top the chart and the female group to do so since 2008.
