How does a Hawaii-based influencer prepare for a sand-strewn O’ahu runway show? With a look inspired by the island’s innate aesthetic. For a front row seat at Jacquemus’s seaside show, Bretman Rock channeled tropical vibes with nails painted in a myriad of greens—palm frond, mint, seafoam—and a wet-look shag. A beauty devotee through and through, Rock let his manicure inspire his ensemble rather than the reverse, opting for sandals, trousers, and an artfully checked top in verdant shades, making for a look as lush as the surrounding landscape.
“The number one beauty secret that I always tell people is that the best primer is confidence,” says Rock, dabbing his lips in a roseate shade of lipstick, that layered with a coat of punchy pink lipgloss. “Before you even start your makeup, give yourself a pep talk. Tell yourself you don’t need the makeup to begin with and tell yourself you’re beautiful.” Though certainly imbued with a natural glow of his own, Rock supplemented with a fully beat face featuring generous swirls of blush across nose and cheekbones, feathery lashes and brows, and touches of highlighter at the inner corners of the eyes for extra radiance. The finishing touch? A quartet of green facial jewels, duos framing each eye in glamorous, whimsical guise.
Here, Rock shares a look at more details from his pre-show prep.
