Newlyweds Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin graced Vogue’s March cover as a fresh-faced image of young love. Though they may be one of the most-watched celebrity couples, Mr. and Mrs. Bieber, who legally wed in September 2018 at a Manhattan courthouse, haven’t been shy about the demands of married life. “The thing is, marriage is very hard,” said Hailey in her Vogue cover story. And the next task for the couple is hosting a real wedding ceremony. While the event has been understandably hush and delayed a few times, we know that it’s well underway. Here’s everything we know about it so far.
The Proposal
- Justin Bieber proposed to Hailey Baldwin in the Bahamas, in July of 2018 while the two were in a house alone.
- Justin confirmed the engagement on Instagram on July 10, 2018 with a long caption professing his love.
- Hailey confirmed in her Vogue 73 Questions video that Justin asked her father, Stephen Baldwin, for approval before bending the knee.
The Legal Marriage
- The couple obtained their legal marriage license at a New York City courthouse on September 13, 2018.
- Justin went public with the news on November 15 via an Instagram photo of the couple with the caption “My wife is awesome.”
- In the same month, Hailey Baldwin changed her Instagram handle to @haileybieber and requested a trademark license to use the name Hailey Bieber for commercial purposes.
The Wedding Date
- On January 15, 2019, Page Six reported that the newlyweds issued a save-the-date for February 28, 2019 for their wedding ceremony with friends and family.
- Rumors circulated on January 23 that the wedding date was postponed due to Justin’s family not being able to make it.
- No date has been confirmed but there’s talk of a spring 2019 wedding.
The Location
- On September 13, 2018, Hailey said to The Cut, “I think having it in the woods would be so beautiful,” detailing that a wedding planner was scouting locations preferably on the West Coast. “I just picture lights strung everywhere.”
- It’s rumored that Hailey has enlisted the help of celebrity party planner Mindy Weiss, a favorite of the Kardashian-Jenner clan’s extravagant parties.
- In January 2019, when the first save-the-date was postponed, a new set of rumors emerged stating that the wedding may be a tropical destination. “Justin and Hailey both love tropical destinations. They are currently looking into options for a tropical wedding,” a source told People.
The Wedding Dress
- According to The Cut, Hailey had already chosen the designer of her dress in September 2018 but the dress was still in the design phase at that time.
- In her 73 Questions video published in February 2019, Hailey said: “I can’t say much, but I can say it’s kinda like an off-white color.”
- Though the designer of choice is still under wraps, Hailey has close ties with Louis Vuitton menswear and Off-White designer Virgil Abloh.
The Guestlist
- Hailey confirmed that her sister, Alaia Baldwin, will be her bridesmaid. “I was hers [in 2017]. And maybe Justin’s little sister as a flower girl. Is 10 too old?” Hailey told The Cut.
- It’s a safe bet that the list will include Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott, Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid. Hailey’s best friends Justin Skye and Kelia Termini. Justin’s pals Post Malone and Jaden Smith.
