When Blackpink and Selena Gomez announced that they would be releasing a collaboration at the end of this month, the collective fandom rejoiced at the prospect of a mood-boosting anthem with which to see out this weird summer. Now we know it’s called “Ice Cream,” and will be released on 28 August.
When those of us who watch their every sartorial move heard the news, we immediately anticipated wardrobe choices every bit as captivating as the track. Between them, Selena, Rosé, Lisa, Jisoo and Jennie have worn and worked with almost every major fashion brand, so our expectations are high.
A newly released teaser has given us a sense of how the video will go. Selena is seen in a pin-up style sailor girl look, driving an ice-cream van through a hyper-real retro seaside setting, as the faces of all four members of Blackpink pop through kitsch cutouts. Though we only get to see their heads in the brief clip, it’s enough to reveal their individual style touches. While Jennie opts for a sweet pair of cherry earrings, Lisa shows off her ever-perfect bangs, and Rosé rocks her signature pastel pink hair, Jisoo sports a fresh-from-the-runway Dior hat in the video.

The baker-style cap has become a mainstay of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior collections, and was on the catwalk once again for the houses’s autumn/winter 2020 presentation. Jisoo opted for one of the patent leather iterations, and even added the designer’s signature birdcage veil to her hat, heightening the high-fashion feel.
Jisoo’s fashion relationship with Christian Dior has been building over the last few weeks, adding to her role as a Dior Beauty ambassador. While we’ve already seen her bandmates pledge their allegiance to other design houses — Rosé to YSL and Jennie to Chanel — it seems like Maria Grazia Chiuri’s aesthetic and feminist message has resonated with this 25-year-old idol. Jisoo has shared several photographs of herself in the Parisian brand’s looks with her 27.4 million Instagram followers.
We’re hoping this latest show of affection for Dior in the “Ice Cream” video will be followed by an appearance from Jisoo in one of the major brand campaigns in the future. Mais oui!
