Armed with fires in their bellies, LESERRAFIM has left an indelible mark on the K-pop scene, earning their first trophy eight days into their debut with the viral single “Fearless”. Their name “LESERRAFIM”, is actually an anagram of “I’m Fearless” — which speaks volumes about the dynamic quintet consisting of Sakura, Kim Chaewon, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha and Hong Eunchae, who each boasts their unique charm. Moments before they take the stage in Hong Kong for their tour “2023 LE SSERAFIM TOUR FLAME RISES”, the five girls of LESERRAFIM share candidly about their new performances, bits and pieces of their daily life and their words for their beloved FEARNOT.

This is the first time you are bringing your concert tour to Hong Kong and you will get to meet Hong Kong FEARNOT later! How are you feeling?
Yunjin: I know that Hong Kong FEARNOT have been waiting for us for a while. We are looking forward to our performance later and we have prepared a lot for our FEARNOT. I hope everyone will enjoy our concert tonight!
We know that you have also prepared some words in Cantonese for the audience. Can you give us a sneak peek?
Chaewon: Dor tse! We learnt “dor tse”, which is thank you in Cantonese!
You visited Hong Kong in July. What did you think of the city?
Chaewon: We performed in Hong Kong before and this city left a deep impression on us.
This is your first world tour since your debut. What has been the most difficult part of preparing for this tour?
Kazuha: We want to be able to put out amazing performances, so we practised a lot for this tour. During the opening part of our concert which you will see later, there is a part where we will fall backwards off the stage one by one, and that is quite difficult.
What is your favourite part of your concert?
Yunjin: I love singing “FEARNOT” during the encore.
Chaewon: My favourite part of the concert is the opening because we look very cool.
Kazuha: I love interacting with the fans during our performance of “Good Parts” because we get to explore different hand gestures that we can do together during the performance.
Sakura: My favourite part is performing “Fire in the Belly”. It’s an upbeat, energetic song and there is a part where Chaewon says something to FEARNOT in the local language of the place where we perform.
Eunchae: I love performing “We Got So Much” because this song was created for our FEARNOT.
LESERRAFIM is travelling around the world these days. What is one thing you can’t travel without?
Yunjin: I always have my earphones with me.
Chaewon: I will pack my throat candy with me because it’s quite important for us as singers.
Kazuha: I bring my massage ball. I like to relax my muscles before going on stage to perform.
Sakura: I always bring my game console everywhere I go!
Eunchae: I’m scared that my mouth will get bored, so I always bring snacks with me.
How do you like to spend your free time? Are there any activities you would enjoy together in the future outside of your busy work schedule?
Sakura: I love eating good food and going shopping together with my members.
Chaewon: If we get the chance in the future, we would like to visit more theme parks and have fun together!
Yunjin: I love being in nature, so I enjoy taking walks in the park and snapping a few pictures here and there when I’m out.
LESERRAFIM has released a lot of viral hits. What’s your favourite song to perform?
Eunchae: I will choose “Fire in the Belly”. It’s our first time performing this song during our concert tour and a lot of Fearnots enjoy this song, so I really enjoy performing it for them.
Sakura: My favourite is “The Great Mermaid” because we incorporate the idea of waves into our performance of that song.

It’s September now, which means we are nine months into 2023. What are your thoughts on LESERRAFIM’s performance and growth as a group? Would you say you have achieved most of your goals for this year?
Kazuha: FEARNOT are the reason we are able to go on this tour. We really hope that we can all complete this tour healthily and happily, and we hope that we can perform for our beloved FEARNOT once again in December this year.
What is the most memorable moment you’ve shared with FEARNOT?
Chaewon: When we performed “Fire in the Belly” on this concert tour, our FEARNOT all sang along together and it was a really touching moment for us to be able to hear their voices while standing on stage.
Any words for FEARNOT?
Chaewon: Thank you so much for always supporting us no matter what. I hope FEARNOT can feel our gratitude through our heartfelt performances.
Yunjin: Thank you FEARNOT for everything! I hope we can all stay happy and healthy together for a long time.
