When actress Lily Collins first hit the Hollywood scene, she raised eyebrows (ahem, literally) for her signature perfect brows. But to recognise Collin purely for her beauty is a disservice.  The thirty-two year old star is a modern day Audrey Hepburn, best known for her rom-com roles in Mirror, Mirror (2012) and Love Rosie (2014). More recently, critics have been happily enamoured with Collin’s turn for the dramatic, playing characters such as Ted Bundy’s unwitting girlfriend Liz Kendall in  Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019) and Ellen in Netflix’s To The Bone (2017), a young adolescent suffering with anorexia. Not long after that, Collins also played a part in delivering one of the most-talked about shows during the pandemic. The actress was none other than the titular Emily, of course, from the amazingly astonishing but equal parts outrageous Emily in Paris (2020). And while Emily’s skills in marketing can be disputed, there’s no denying that while travel continued to be scarce for us, Emily – and her relentless closet of Chanel and trés chic designer keychains, was a break of humour, optimism and unadulterated fun on the silver screen.

As popular as costumer designer Patricia Field’s work within the Darren Star show has become, Collin’s personal style deserves its own mention. Unlike the kitschy and somewhat camp style Collins embodies on screen as Emily, Collins’ taste is much more subdued, skewing towards elegant silhouettes and casual off-duty looks. The actress has collaborated with celebrity stylist duo Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn to turn gorgeous, high-brow red carpet looks that can best be described as romance with a touch of Old Hollywood. Having worn the likes of Giambattista Valli, Givenchy and YSL, Collins’ sartorial credit also extends to brand ambassadorships with Cartier and Movado.
