Ayaka Miyoshi made her acting debut in 2007 but did not rise to international fame until starring in the Season 2 of the hit Netflix thriller series Alice in Borderland, which follows a group of people who were sent to a desolate version of Tokyo where they compete against each other in games to survive. Miyoshi plays the intelligent and mysterious Ann Rizuna, who worked in the forensics department of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police before she was sent to the Borderland.

Ayaka Miyoshi was a member of Sakura Gaukin, a Japanese idol group that operated on a rotation system in which the oldest members graduated every March, and new members made their debut in May to replace the graduates. She joined the group when it was founded in 2010 and stayed for three years before graduating in 2013, and was also part of the group’s sub-unit “sleepiece”, which released comparatively mellow music than other sub-units. After her departure, Miyoshi remained closely associated with Sakura Gakuin and was invited to perform with the group during special events before they disbanded in 2021.

The Japanese actress starred in the music video for Won’t Cry, a ballad by renowned Taiwanese singer Jay Chou and Ashin, the vocalist of the Taiwanese band Mayday. In the video, she plays a girl who works day and night at a milk tea shop to support her boyfriend’s dreams of becoming a photographer.
She chopped off her long hair when she turned 20

Miyoshi once mentioned that she only started feeling like her true self when she cut her hair short. When asked about her haircut, she revealed, “When I turned 20, I felt like I was at a major turning point in my life, and I wanted to remove everything non-essential from it. Thus, I decided to cut my hair and donate it to charity.”
She loves action movies

Ayaka Miyoshi enjoys action movies and shared that she would like to try her hand at an action film in the future. “I like to play female characters that are strong-willed. I want to try and portray women who can stand up in the face of adversity.”
