From ‘90s goth to old-school Hollywood glamour, Angelina Jolie has made bold fashion bold choices ever since her first red carpet appearance with actor father Jon Voight at the age of 10. She opted for a child bride-styled white lace dress for her first Academy Awards, and hip-grazing jet black hair to receive her Oscar award for Girl, Interrupted, but lately favours more sleek, minimalist looks from designers including Ralph and Russo and Versace, that are a sartorial antidote to the red carpet with her penchant for black dresses and immaculate tailoring. 

It’s a transition that marks more than just a style evolution — it reflects her shifting from starlet to director, activist, humanitarian and mother-of-six. She’s best known for her advocacy on behalf of refugees as a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), but has been vocal about everything from conservation, education and breast cancer too, after she underwent a preventive double mastectomy, in 2013.
