The annual Cannes Film Festival might just be the most exciting time for celebrity fashion. From May 14 to May 25 this year, actors, directors, and models from around the world are descending upon the French Riviera for screenings, yacht parties and endless events. As photocalls welcome daytime looks of the highest sartorial standard, the evenings’ red carpets sees the stars slip into couture creations befitting for a festival notorious for its strict dress code.
On the red carpet, Naomi Cambell and Law Roach created an archival fashion moment for the books. Campbell rewears a couture Chanel dress she originally modelled for the Chanel 1997 Fall Couture runway 28 years ago. Instead of having her hair sleeked back, she lets her voluminous curls flow in this new rendition. It just goes to show how repeating outfits is far from fashion faux pas. In fact, it’s an opportunity for greatness and is increasingly embraced by A-listers on the red carpet.
