It is that time of year again when the red carpet – a whopping sixty feet of it – gets rolled down the stairs at the Palais des Festivals on the French Riviera, awaiting the descent of the world’s brightest stars. Returning at the heels of the 2023 Met Gala is the 76th Cannes Film Festival and, with it, a fashion extravaganza brimming with surprises.

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing kicked off the grand occasion by making a breathtaking comeback on the red carpet in a dramatic gown adorned with majestic tigers crawling in between emerald bamboo, crafted by Chinese designer Christopher Bu. For the opening ceremony gala dinner, Fan slipped into a body-hugging black Yanina Couture gown that bloomed with striking sequinned yellow florals — living up to her name as the Queen of Cannes.
All eyes were on Blackpink’s Rosé as she made her Cannes debut. At the premiere of Monster, she was the epitome of elegance in a black halterneck dress by Saint Laurent.

A few days later, her fellow Blackpink member Jennie also made her Cannes debut for the premiere of her upcoming HBO series The Idol, in which she co-stars with Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd. On the red carpet, she turned heads in an off-the-shoulder black and white lace midi gown from Chanel — one fit for a princess.
At the photocall for her highly anticipated series, Jennie also shone the spotlight on Chinese designer Shushu Tong by opting for a black gown adorned with a ribbon at the bustier and white hems, wearing matching black bows in her braid — a look that very well reflects her penchant for balletcore-style pieces.
The world awaited Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh, who turned up the volume in a sweeping, green Balenciaga Couture gown and a statement necklace from Boucheron.

Aespa continued to steal the show on the red carpet for La Passion De Dodin Bouffant, where the group’s four members each took the opportunity to flaunt their style. Karina was a vision in a custom black tulle dress by Korean designer Choi Jaehoon; Winter looked ethereal in a white ruffled cut-out dress by Maria Lucia Hohan; Giselle glittered in a black Cristina Savulescu embellished with pearls; and NingNing made a statement in a patterned dress from Versace’s Fall/Winter 2023 Ready-To-Wear collection. All four members accessorised their gowns of choice with exquisite gems and jewellery from Chopard.
