Chanel has dreamed up a magnificent high jewellery collection to celebrate the 100th year of its legendary N°5 fragrance. The tribute collection, which will launch this May, features a whopping 123 show-stopping pieces inspired by the iconic perfume.
The legacy began in 1921, when Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel asked perfumer Ernest Beaux to create a signature scent. As the story goes, Mademoiselle (as she’s often referred to) picked the fifth sample of the fragrance and decided to name it N°5. In 1932, the couturier made the foray into jewellery with her one and only Bijoux de Diamants collection in platinum and diamonds.
Now, Patrice Leguéreau – the Director of Chanel’s Fine Jewellery Creation Studio, has brought the two worlds together with Collection N°5, making it the first high jewellery line to pay homage to a fragrance.
Designed after the silhouette of the N°5 bottle, the 55.55 necklace is the highlight of the collection. The exceptional piece features a 55.55-carat emerald cut diamond set in an 18-carat white gold bezel. The fastener is also shaped in the lucky number 5.
Chanel plans to keep the 55.55 necklace at it’s flagship boutique on Place Vendôme.
