As if the times we live in aren’t ironic enough, a bag blown out of glass is currently shattering the internet. The accessory in question? A glass iteration of Coperni’s iconic Swipe Bag, crafted in collaboration with Heven, a New York-based glassware and homeware brand founded by Breanna Box & Peter Dupont.

To maintain the unique oval shape of Coperni’s Swipe Bag, which is inspired by iPhone’s “swipe to unlock” button, every bag is made with one piece of glass, drilled in and opened up with scissors to make room for practical storage.
Following in the footsteps of Miu Miu’s micro mini, this Coperni bag has garnered the fashion crowd’s attention by virtue of its shock and curiosity factor: can anyone even use a bag entirely made out of glass? According to the likes of Doja Cat, Kylie Jenner and Tinashe, the answer is yes.

At the 2022 Grammys, Tinashe made her entrance in a bubblegum pink GCDS latex number carrying the Glass Swipe in red. Meanwhile, Doja Cat paired her aqua Atelier Versace gown with a matching icy blue ombre version, literally putting the candy in “arm candy” by filling her bag with foil-wrapped sweets. To receive her Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Kiss Me More”, the pop star stepped on stage with a transparent one affixed with Heven’s signature devil horns, which instantly stole the show.

This devilish variation made its debut in the hands of Gigi Hadid on Coperni’s Autumn/Winter 2022 runway and has recently converted Kylie Jenner into a fan, who, like a true beauty mogul, took the chance to show off two Kylie’s Cosmetics lip products in the clear bag.

If Cinderella’s glass slipper was every little girl’s fantasy, Coperni and Heven’s glass bag is every 21st century fashionista’s dream. Fad or fashion, the fragile yet powerful silhouette has managed to climb onto the top of our social media feeds and is about to make its way onto the racks. According to Coperni’s statements to Glamour and Paper, the glass Swipe will be available for purchase in a limited drop at Coperni’s online store, with the horned-iteration priced at USD$2,700.

This leaves the question: who will be the next to swipe right on the glass?
