It’s that time of year where fashion students not only graduate, but also get a chance to present their collections to the world. Undoubtedly, one of the most anticipated shows is from the BA fashion course at Central Saint Martins (CSM) in London, but this time it’s via a live runway where the students model their own looks.
Boasting an unrivalled power alumni — Phoebe Philo, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Grace Wales Bonner and Charles Jeffrey, to name but a few — the institution continuously produces the biggest talents in the industry. “As they grow as creatives and people, they are learning alongside others from across the world,” says Sarah Gresty, CSM’s BA fashion course leader. “That’s the wonderful thing about CSM — we get incredible students.”
From Alex Huang’s meticulously knitted bronze number and Johanna Hehemann’s look made entirely out of leaves, pine needles and birch, to Claudia Gusella’s delicate piece constructed from 600 real duck eggs — this year’s superstar graduates have set the bar exceptionally high with their innovative creations. Here, Vogue brings you the top 17 of their wildest designs.
