After making headlines for his appearance at Vogue World, NCT’s Jeno Lee made history as the first-ever K-pop artist to open a show at New York Fashion Week. At Peter Do’s SS23 show, he led the designer’s menswear debut clad in sleek tailoring and chunky heeled boots. Joining him in the ranks of Peter Do’s army of models were Shohei and Eunseok, members of SM Entertainment’s pre-debut training team SM rookies, as well as Asian photographer Peter Ash Lee.

Anybody who has even cast the faintest glance towards Paris Fashion Week would’ve seen a white off-the-shoulder dress being sprayed onto Bella Hadid live on Coperni’s runway as the brand’s closing look this season. Developed by Brisith company Fabrican, this spray-on technology liquefies and bonds fibers to create form-fitting garments. While the technology has been around for over ten years (since 2010!), this moment in Coperni’s show was no less magical and still made jaws drop all-around.

What’s 68 x 2? Alessandro Michele would know. The designer sent 68 pairs of twins down Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway as a tribute to his mother and her twin sister, who he sees as “his two mums”. Each pair of twins modelled the same set of looks, putting on a one-of-a-kind (well, two-of-a-kind) show that was eerily symmetrical.

Barbiecore summer is not over just yet, at least not in Paris Hilton’s world. The socialite closed the Versace Spring/Summer show sparkling in an all-pink look comprising a glittering cowl neck dress and a veil, making for the ultimate Barbie bride.

Condom gloves at Botter

Yes, you read that right. Botter’s Spring/Summer 2023 show opened and closed with models clad in the brand’s signature Caribbean blue, with their hands wrapped in condoms filled with water dyed in the same colour.

Cher adds yet another iconic moment to her legendary career by making a surprise cameo appearance at Balmain’s Spring/Summer 2023 show. The legendary singer strutted down the stage in a marbled catsuit and chunky heeled boots as her hit track “Strong Enough” blasted in the background. What else can we say? She’s an icon, she’s a legend, and she is the moment.

While tripping over during a fashion show is often a model’s biggest fear, sometimes a fall can make for an iconic moment — cue 23-year-old Naomi Campell’s fall at Vivienne Westwood’s Fall Winter 1993/1994 show wearing the designer’s towering purple “Super Elevated Gillie” heels. Now almost twenty years later, AVAVAV has become the talk of the town because models fell at their show. Not two, not three – but all of them – as a parody of the fashion industry’s obsession with status and appearances.

Balenciaga’s trek through the mud

According to Demna’s show notes, the Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2023 presentation was about “digging for the truth and being down to earth” — and quite literally so. The brand’s show set was smothered in mud, more specifically, 275 cubic meters of black mud that was used to create a sludgy trench-esque catwalk on which Demna’s models trudged as they splattered the designer’s latest creations with dirt. What a way to be down to earth!
