As Burberry’s first female ambassador, you shot your Vogue cover in Daniel Lee’s first collection for Burberry. How do you feel?
As a fan of Daniel Lee, I was very excited to be able to work with him and witness the beginning of Burberry’s transformation. I also felt overwhelmed to be a part of Burberry’s historic moment.
While you have tried various fashion styles over the years, do you have any items that you don’t prefer to wear?
If I had to choose, maybe a trucker hat? (laughs)
You always seem calm and composed. In an interview, you once said, “I feel happy at different times of the day. When I exercise in the morning, when I anticipate lunchtime on an empty stomach, and when I see my children in the afternoon.” When did you feel happy today?
I feel happy from the moment I start the day energetically. I would think to myself, “I’m grateful that I can start the day well” and “I’m still doing well,” and realise that “If this makes me feel happy, this is what happiness is.”
You exercise and have a healthy diet. Have you recently tried anything new as part of your healthy lifestyle?
There are so many ways to become healthy that sometimes it’s vague where to start. So, instead of focusing on one exercise, I try various things because you might not feel significant changes if you get used to a particular movement.
What is your oldest memory, and how do you feel when you recall it?
When I recall a memory, it doesn’t feel old, but when I count the years, it feels distant. Sometimes, I wonder, “What was I doing at that time?” while watching my growing children. Then, I feel both sad and nostalgic, and also envious.
In an interview, you said, “My family is always my top priority.” If you had to save only five phone numbers of people other than your family members, who would they be?
There aren’t many people who come to mind except for family. But I think I might save the contact information of my staff who are always there to help me.
When did you feel like you became an adult?
I feel like I became an adult when I realised that today is more precious than yesterday. Having gone through a certain stage in life, I know that the time I have left is limited and I don’t want to waste any time.
What is your biggest fear these days?
My biggest fear having time rapidly pass me by. As I mentioned earlier, I want to cherish each day because I know that the time I have left is limited.
What is something you feel you have done well?
I think everything I have experienced is like that. I embarked on a road less taken and went through trial and error. I have had doubts, and I have grown from it all. All these choices and experiences have accumulated to make me who I am now. That’s why I think I can embrace my past self, no matter what choices I have made.
