Before her transformative hairstyle, rebellion was already in Iris Law’s bones. After shaving off her hair for her role as Soo Catwoman in upcoming series Pistol, her life has never been the same. With her new look, she shows off a fierce and fearless side that has never been seen before.
What are the 3 keywords that came to your mind when talking about “Youthquake”?
Sustainability, collaboration and support.
How has the new hairstyle transformed your fashion style and even your life? And how does it represent your individuality?
With my new hair I feel that the way I look represents and defines my personality more sufficiently and makes it easier to express myself through my style.
Which fashion brand/designer inspires you the most and Why?
Jonathan Anderson’s JW and Loewe. They both never fail to excite and surprise me. I want to wear everything from every collection.
How would you describe your personal style, and what are the 3 items in your wardrobe that you can’t live without?
My personal style completely changes depending on my mood and how I feel that day. I just like to wear what makes me feel most confident that day. The one thing I can’t live without is a lipstick in my bag.
Knowing your particular interest in sustainable textiles, what are your thoughts on the role of sustainability in the world of luxury fashion today?
Everyone has a role to play! I think there has been some big movements in 2021 but there needs to be a continued effort for 2022.
Which designer/ brand is your favourite when it comes to sustainable fashion?
I love A Love Movement but obviously Stella McCartney is the biggest inspiration. It’s really nice to see young people and fashion students creating their own small sustainable businesses and brands which are all really unique.
Would becoming a fashion designer be one of your future goals? And if you would launch your own brand one day, what would the style be like?
I love knitting and weaving. I’ve been studying textiles at Central Saint Martins. For me I’m really into the fabric production side of things and colour combinations. I don’t usually share most of the things I make or draw. I want to find out my style for myself before showing the world but in terms of designing I’m not sure whether that’s in store for me. But I definitely will find an outlet for my creativity.
You made your acting debut last year, casting in “Pistols”. Is there any memorable behind-the-scenes story you can share with us? What characters would you like to try out in the future?
For me it’s been important to try for strong female roles. I always enjoy taping characters that think differently to myself, and needing to find that empathy or understanding with the role and search for links with my own mind. I find the fun of acting is experiencing another person’s world and immersing yourself in their story.
What is your perfect day off like?
Having a lie in, trying a new coffee shop or restaurant, spending time outside and seeing my family.
Any memorable stories from your childhood or upbringing that shaped you into the person you are today?
My whole childhood is full of vivid memories that shaped me and encouraged my creativity and love for travel and trying new things.
