Timeless, minimal designs merge with functional Japanese sensibilities and manufacturing expertise in the upcoming collaboration between designer Jil Sander and Uniqlo. While details regarding the collaboration are scant, the designer’s signature, minimalist touch is sure to be eminent, with a collection that will likely echo the original +J line–a widely successful collaboration between the two that ran from 2009 to 2011.

The original collection saw quintessential Jil Sander basics that took the form of pared back trousers, crisp white shirts and understated knitwear amongst other key wardrobe staples. As with the original collaboration, the upcoming +J line will involve the German fashion designer herself and not her eponymous label.

Sander’s timeless, minimalist designs in conjunction with the Japanese retailer’s crisp execution, attention to detail and technical expertise will certainly make for a memorable and refreshing collaboration, arriving at a point where many are looking to invest in quality basics at an affordable price that can stand the test of time.

“I feel that we need more critical discourse online to differentiate between flashy looks and designs that actually improve the looks of real human beings.”

Jil Sander

The collection is due to launch this autumn 2020, with the collaboration hitting stores and the Uniqlo website in October.
