NewJeans. This name has been on everyone’s lips since July 2022, when the K-pop quintet debuted with their first surprise single, “Attention” — fittingly titled for the sheer amount of heads they have turned around the world. Shining bright among NewJeans’ five superstars is HAERIN: the second youngest of the group, Dior global ambassador, and Vogue Hong Kong’s December cover star.
The word elegant does not even begin to describe HAERIN’s breathtaking aura. In an industry saturated with bold personalities, the 17-year-old instantly commands attention with her quiet demeanour, carrying herself with a grace and composure that is far beyond her years. Her captivating gaze pierces through the lens as she poses for her first Hong Kong magazine cover shoot, delicate florals scattered around her. HAERIN, too, is blossoming — her unique colours painting a world illuminated by NewJeans.
This is your first time becoming a cover star for a Hong Kong magazine. How do you feel?
I think my outfit suited the chic and relaxed mood of the photoshoot. I had a lot of fun, and I hope it turned out well!
What is your favourite thing about performing on stage?
Receiving support and love from our fans and being able to connect with them in person is the best part! That’s what motivates me to keep going on stage.
What is a favourite memory you have shared with your NewJeans members?
I enjoy every moment! Whenever I’m with my members, we have a fun time together and our positive energy flows.
How would you describe your personal fashion style? What are some of your favourite pieces from your wardrobe?
Lately I’ve been drawn to a simple and chic style. I wear Dior’s black jackets a lot!
What do you like to do in your free time? Are there any new hobbies you picked up recently?
I usually like browsing through videos for shopping. And these days, I also enjoy going for walks in pretty places.
