Haute Couture Week Spring/Summer 2020 has officially kicked off this year’s fashion calendar, ushering in the first round of industry VIPs to the storied streets of Paris. This season’s shows included Virginie Viard’s sophomore Chanel couture collection and Jean-Paul Gaultier’s final runway, for which guests bore witness to sublime craftsmanship while donning a less-is-more approach to personal style. Neutrals were the go-to with an abundance of white and black outfits, while outerwear leaned heavier on sheen and leathers, both faux and real. There was a penchant for denim and the always-classic trench coat, and the It-bags of choice were the Dior Saddle Bag and Chanel 19.
