Brides-to-be will be familiar with the oft-repeated saying, “It only happens once in a lifetime,” which is why the Tokyoites – among the most discerning fashion crowd in the world – can now prepare for their special day at the world’s first Vogue Wedding Salon.
Located in the Japanese capital’s ritzy Omotesando district, the salon was designed by award-winning Japanese architect Yuko Nagayama to resemble a traditional church – complete with an apse topped with a semi-dome – and represents the boldest physical manifestation of the popular Vogue Wedding supplement to date.
“The biggest single keyword for contemporary today’s weddings is ‘diversification of values.’ Now is a time for brides who embrace different values to rejoice their individuality,” says Vogue Wedding creative director Mayumi Nakamura.
To this end, the salon offers modern bridal gowns straight from the pages of Vogue, from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Giambattista Valli, Oscar de la Renta, and Sergio Rossi. Customers can also order custom-made shoes through a special service, while wedding guests can choose from a selection of eveningwear and accessories.
True to the magazine’s editorial vision, the salon has a team of wedding specialists on hand who also serve as regular contributors to the publication, from photographers, stylists, and hair and makeup professionals, to cake and flower designers. Meanwhile, an in-house photo studio allows brides to step into their very own polished fashion editorial.
