At the Monte Carlo Yacht Club in Monaco, Alberta Ferretti presented an earthy, approachable Resort 2020 collection that focused on Italian craftsmanship and sustainable fashion, of which the designer was awarded the Sustainable and Ethical Award during Monte-Carlo Fashion Week for her efforts towards eco-friendly fashion.
Indeed, this season was complete with Ferretti’s “Love Me” fully sustainable capsule, which featured upcycled cashmere and cotton that was certified as sustainably produced. But Ferretti’s take on sustainable fashion also came in the form of supremely wearable clothing — essential daywear in a neutral palette of beige, navy, and white, visited by splashes of fuschia pink and sea foam green. The silhouettes were built on gusseted suede panels, billowing tiered ruffles, and delicate lace and feather trims. It was a simple but effective collection featuring staples such as flowy blouses, wide-leg pants, mini-skirts, and outerwear ranging from trench coats to worker jackets. And to close off the show — a series of floor-length red carpet gowns rendered in dreamy, feminine materials.
