“It’s been 10 years of huge independence, 10 years of championing creativity, people, inclusivity; so we were like, ‘OK, what is this collection going to be about?’” Piotrek Panszczyk said during a preview at the Area showroom a few days before the show.
Area’s creative director was in search for the thing that exemplified the brand’s identity and it became the very thing that they based their collection around. In the collection, “identity” translated into a thumbprint pattern blown up in shades of black or brown that decorated models from head-to-toe. Hands became a huge motif, transforming into leather cutouts that wrapped the body, patterns atop dresses and feathers appliquéd into gowns.
Safe to say, Area showed us what they’re made of.
