GCDS is known for its bold slogans and ironic graphics. The brand’s dinner in Milan was themed “Jurassic Park” and presented a 10-course prehistoric meal full of dinosaurs and clashes of intense colour. As guests’ chatter filled the vibrant room, I continually recalled the 40-foot dinosaur that opened its jaw during the GCDS show earlier that night. The unique dinner continued with DJ Kitty Cash spinning top hip-hop hits all night long. As the night went on, an enormous Japanese cartoon-themed cake filled the dining room just as I spotted RuPaul’s Drag Race superstar Aquaria at the dinner.
Fashion week has always propelled my senses into overdrive and the Browns dinner in London was surely a defining moment of intense experience. The dinner was held at the newly-opened Standard Hotel to celebrate the launch of DJ Peggy Gou’s label Kirin. In Korean, the word Kirin means giraffe, which is the animal Peggy cherished the most during her childhood. The dinner began with an incredible assortment of fun street food including everything from hotdogs to pimiento. Later in the evening, we were treated to a guest appearance of Mark Ronson, who was also DJing at the launch party of Standard Hotel that night.

Bvlgari held two remarkably impressive parties in London and Milan this season. The events were carried out to celebrate the new Serpenti Seduttori collection. At the London Party, Ellie Goulding performed her favorite hits. In Milan, Bvlgari celebrated the 20th anniversary of Vogue Japan with a Kawaii-themed party. The performing artists travelled from Japan and all work at Tokyo’s famous Monster Café. Another memorable night was Self Portrait’s House party in the heart of East London. Han Chong and the cool crowd of London gathered for one of the week’s best parties.

It is always refreshing to attend a fashion presentation that disconnects you from the fashion world and gives you a fresh perspective of the world we live in. In Milan, I went to the Hogan presentation, with the theme “A Journey to the Great Outdoors.” There was a mini caravan at the entrance hinting at what to expect. It was all about being connected with nature: the products morphed with nature’s endless shades as shoes and bags with highly tactile and crafty fabrics echoed distant natural landscapes. I particularly appreciated the transparency motif showcased in the collection. It propelled me to want to go on a summer hike in nature.
While I was in London, Anya Hindmarch hosted a presentation set in a mesmerising maze that guests could walk through, which was developed by leading set designer Adrian Fisher. The desserts at the dinner were postal-themed and there was a calligraphy workshop that let you write a letter and send it. When was the last time you wrote a physical letter? Personally, it has been a while and was a truly unique and unexpected experience.

During a season of countless spectacular store events, Milan and Paris certainly stood out. In Milan, the new Tod’s concept boutique on Via Montenapoleone, named Tod’s Studios, was striking. Upon arrival, we were embraced by ballet dancers from Teatro Alla Scala performing along the entrance walkway. After the sun had set, skilled local artisans demonstrated how Car Shoes are made. The artisans worked with various colours and leathers highlighting the craftsmanship Tod’s is known for. At the Tod’s Spring/Summer 2020 runway show the day prior, we saw perforated leather coats as well as tie-dye leathers presented in a highly contemporary approach.
In Paris, Valentino’s new boutique on Rue Saint-Honore was particularly remarkable. Presented throughout the store was illuminated poems by the Scottish poet Robert Montgomery. Walking around the space was fascinating, with its inspirational poems and products from Valentino’s collaboration with Undercover.
