The genius and unique childrenswear resale platform is the brainchild of SarahGarner who wanted an efficient and effective way to recirculate fashion for little ones. Vestiaire Collective president and co-founder Fanny Moizant launched her unicorn-status resale fashion empire in 2009 and expanded to Hong Kong in 2017. The business has more than 800 employees, a presence in 80 countries, sells over 11,000 brands, and is set to save the planet an environmental cost of HK$298 billion by 2030 through resale retail. It is the first marketplace in the fashion industry to earn B Corp Certification, meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
Dr. Christina Dean, Redress
Dr. Christina Dean founded Redress in 2007, Asia’s first environmental NGO focused on minimising the negative impacts of the fashion industry. Since then, the sustainable fashion advocate has championed better practices in fashion, raised awareness about the industry, launched awards, and much more. Her luxury up-cycled fashion brand ‘The R Collective’ launched in 2017, and The Redress Design Awards went global in 2018.
Sonia Layla Savalani, ESSE
A lack of transparency in the traditional mined diamond industry led Sonia Layla Savalani to found ESSE, a lab grown diamond everyday jewellery brand. Lab grown diamonds have a reduced carbon footprint compared to mined diamonds, produce less waste and avoid the sulfur oxide and nitrous oxide emissions associated with mined diamonds. The new Hong Kong born brand’s baby tag necklace has become a bestselling sustainable classic in a short space of time.
