Bonjour from Paris! February is the month where the fashion ladies and gents from all over the world reunite in the City of Lights for fashion week. With the everyday hustling, running in and out of runway shows, it’s always a pleasure to be able to sneak in some time to explore or enjoy a cup of coffee while people-watching. Here’s where I escape and take photos in between shows for a breather from the fashion crowds.
Au Vieux Paris d’Arcole
Surprisingly well-hidden despite its location only 100 metres from Notre Dame, this cafe was built in 1512 and was spared demolition during the city’s period of “Haussmanisation,” lending it an air from another age.
24 rue Chanoinesse, 75004 Paris
Merci Jérôme!
Street corner cafes are one of the unique charms of Paris, and the tables outside make for a perfect spot to watch the world go by with a wine or a fruit tart in hand.
11 boulevard des Italiens, 75002 Paris
Yummy and Guiltfree
The name says it all. Specialising in sweet and savoury gluten- and lactose-free waffles by pastry chef Damien Cassart, the adorable interiors of this cafe place it firmly among my favourites in Paris.
9 boulevard Montmartre, 75002 Paris
Chez Suzette Creperie
Chez Suzette Crepe is a must-try for their crepes that are made with a smile and stuffed-to-bursting with fillings. They have a few different locations in the city.
23 boulevard Poissonniere, 75002 Paris
Palais Garnier
Built in 1861, the Palais Garnier is one of the most stunning opera houses in the world. Catch a ballet here and stick around afterwards for the ornate architecture.
8 rue Scribe, 75009 Paris
Louvre Pyramid
Even without The Da Vinci Code, this futuristic structure from I.M. Pei is an architectural gem in its own right. Arrive early to beat the crowds.
Place Vendôme
Essentially the “town square” of Paris, Place Vendôme is the place to catch a glimpse of a celebrity or two around this time of year.
