疫情肆虐卻沒有阻止 MTV 舉辦2020年度音樂錄影帶大獎 (VMAs) 頒獎典禮，而這也是萬眾矚目的唯一一場戶外活動，雖然沒有大量的現場觀眾，但音樂界巨星 Lady Gaga、Ariana Grande、 BTS 、Miley Cyrus、The Weeknd 等等都獲得紐約市政府的括免14日隔離親臨現場，實體紅地毯盛況依然星光熠熠。與往年相比，這場頒獎典禮以直播方式進行，而部分則是預先錄製好，考慮到過往 VMAs 的華麗、難忘的歷史，明星們都精心著裝展現出2020 截然不同的紅地毯造型。
