自今年2月老佛爺Karl Lagerfeld在去世後,關於Chanel將被Louis Vuitton母公司LVMH集團收購的傳聞再次甚囂塵上,LVMH首席財務官Jean-Jacques Guion在閉門會議中回應指,以Chanel現今的業務規模,估值接近1000億歐元,遠不止傳媒所猜測的500億歐元,對任何買家而言都非容易的收購對象。

2017年有傳LVMH老闆Bernard Arnault正在與Chanel持有人Wertheimer家族進行洽購,後來Arnault否認雙方有接觸。至今LVMH的市值為約1806億歐元,Gucci母公司Kering集團則為600億歐元,Hermès市值為644億歐元,而如果財務透明度較低的Chanel的確價值1000億歐元,它才是全球第二大奢侈品集團。

Chanel在時尚工業的獨特之處在於它從不尋求上市,把業務專注在單一品牌上,因而令其創作和製作水平都能夠維持高水準,不會因為追求更佳的業績而盲目改變策略,極力把「奢侈」的定義把關,將品牌形象不斷提高。而LVMH和Kering則以多品牌和多變的策略迎合市場變化,未來這幾大巨頭的爭鬥肯定有更多好戲上演。
