如果 David Koma 沒有跟隨自己的內心去從事時裝事業，他有可能會成為一名網球運動員。今季2021春夏系列便看見他對網球運動的熱愛，光是多次為前世界冠軍 Maria Sharapova 設計服裝可知他於運動有著深不可測的淵源：事關 David Koma 出身體育世家，哥哥是一名職業網球運動員、而父親每星期至少打四次網球、母親則是一名前體操運動員。 「我一直都有在做運動，我四歲的時候父親就遞給我一把網球拍，特別是這一季，我覺得我想做一些我喜歡的事情。」

以網球為靈感的設計過程，被職業網球運動員 Chris Evert 在球場上戴著鑽石手鐲的故事所吸引。在1978年美國公開賽的早一輪比賽中，比賽的過程中 Chris Evert  的手鍊斷裂掉落，卻讓大家不得不停止比賽，等她尋找它這些碎落滿地的鑽石，因此塑造出 “tennis bracelet” 一詞。 David Koma 系列中隨處可見水晶的設計，無論是體現在手工刺繡，還是格子毛衣上的點綴，以及其他閃爍的繩索編織、富有噱頭的閃閃發光的運動帶、帽子及鑲有水晶的網球拍等等。

雖然 David Koma 從來都不需要任何藉口去象徵水晶的設計，但從過往的時裝系列都延續對水晶的熱愛。而擅長打造性感輪廓的他，更將運動的剪裁注入唯美浪漫的閃爍設計，儘管對網球毫無認識，至少會瞬間愛上網球服裝。
